St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church
A CZECH NATIONAL PARISH
Is organized for the senior citizens to visit and build community and is open to both non-parishioners and parishioners. This group meets for a potluck on the third Thursday of the month. Everyone brings a covered dish and dues are .50 per month. After the meal they play Bingo with each person donating one item to be used for prizes.
Our parish has on average 45 parishioners who are shut-ins, homebound, in nursing homes, Hallmark or hospital patients. During the holidays the members of this group make goodies and decorate the plates and then visit the shut-ins, taking the goodies and greeting cards. At Christmas they buy something special for each of them. Donations to the “Giving Tree” help fund this.
Stitchers and Knitters
Meets 1st & 3rd Tuesdays each month- 1:00-3:00 pm The group makes quilts for various events including Goulash Day. For more information, call Sandy Pape at 286-9141 or Elaine Boes at 848-6052.
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.6 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people.
K OF C COUNCIL 14952 of I.C & St. Wenceslaus meets the 3rd Thurs. of the month at 7 p.m. A rosary is recited at 6:40 p.m. prior to the meeting. If interested in joining, call John at 573-3064.
Parish Nurses Focus on balancing physical, emotional, spiritual, and social health by enhancing healthy and healing relationships with God, family, and the faith community. Parish nurses also visit parishioners in the hospital or home, provide blood pressure screenings and assist with health-related questions and concerns.
Saint Monica’s Circle
The members of this circle meet for a potluck meal at 11:30 a.m. the first Sunday of the month. A business meeting follows. This Circle bakes kolaches as a fundraiser. The money is used to purchase items needed in the parish. Group members also serve on the Goulash Day committee.
Saint Bridget’s Circle
The people of this circle provide funeral meals and work with Goulash Days. The money they raise is used to purchase needed items for the parish. This group meets twice a year for social events.
Goulash Day Committee
This group plans the Goulash Days and coordinates various committees to make the day a success. They meet in the late spring and summer prior to the day of the event. Goulash Day is held the 4th Sunday of September.
After Easter Feaster Committee
This dinner/auction began in 2014 and is held the Saturday after Easter.
Saint Vincent DePaul Committee
This committee volunteers their time and talent at the Saint Vincent DePaul Society. They provide assistance for people in need. They also volunteer in the retail store providing low cost household and clothing items.
Cadets of St George/First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association is a fraternal benefit society formed to address the insurance needs of individuals of Slovak decent. FCSLA and its members are actively involved in the Church, Catholic education, social and civic causes, and providing aid to those in need. The association sponsors over $248,000 in annual scholarships for young members. Saint Monica’s Circle
