As part of our celebration of the centennial of our
church building
the land on the north section of our property will become St.
Wenceslaus
Czech Heritage Park this summer. Among the items the park will feature
are a plaza; whose centerpiece will be the 14’ tall, 9 ton statue, the
St. Wenceslaus/St. Ludmila Sculptural Group; a memorial wall, benches,
and an arbor entrance.
St. Wenceslaus Church has as its intention to continue
to be a leader
in the Cedar Rapids community and the Dubuque Archdiocese. This park
will
be impressive and will attract many visitors from all over the Midwest.
St. Wenceslaus intends to play a leading role in the revitalization of
the Czech Village neighborhood community; collaborating with the city’s
plans for a nearby arts and entertainment district and developing the
riverfront-Cedar
Bend area.
